Changing with the Seasons: A Life Update

The past month or so has been a transition phase for me in nearly every aspect of life. Between career shifts, sick children, personal growth, and seasonal changes, it’s felt like everything has been in motion. While it hasn’t always been easy, it’s been necessary and honestly, kind of refreshing in its own way.
Last month, I traveled back home to Boston, which is always a breath of fresh air. There’s just something about being back in a familiar place that helps me reset. The highlight of that trip was taking my kids to the New England Aquarium for the very first time! Watching their faces light up as they got excited over the fish, turtles, and sea lions was honestly the cutest thing ever, a core memory for sure.

Since being back, I’ve started a new job and so far, it’s going well (It's only my third day out here). One of the biggest reasons I'm excited about this new opportunity so much is that it’s going to allow me more balance, more time to actually enjoy life outside of work. Plus, with winter creeping in (and seasonal depression being very real), that kind of flexibility is a gift. It also means I can get the kids out and about more while we still have some decent weather, because two kids stuck inside all day can be absolute chaos.
Even though this season is filled with good changes, it’s still a lot. I’m learning that it’s okay to slow down and sit in that discomfort though, to feel it, acknowledge it, and give myself time to adjust. That’s been a big shift for me so I’ve been focusing on calming my mind and reconnecting with myself and staying grounded as everything else shifts around me.
Part of that has meant moving my body more. I’ve been doing yoga more regularly, getting to the gym, and sticking with run club (which has been super motivating, especially now that I’m starting to see real progress). It always feels good to feel good, you know?
However now that I'm feeling a bit more settled, I’m really looking forward to getting back out into the community (I won’t lie, I’ve been slacking a little). But this weekend is the perfect time to change that, with so many exciting events happening! Here’s five that I’m looking forward to:
CuseMoms Social Hour @ the Society September 26, 2025
A chance to connect with other moms in the area, something I’ve really been craving lately.
DDC EmpowerHER Series September 26–28, 2025
A full weekend of powerful conversations, workshops, and inspiration.

Red & White Scholarship Gala & Sneaker Ball September 27, 2025
Hosted by the Syracuse Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, this will be my third year attending! It's super classy, stylish, and all for a good cause! (Last year's masquerade theme pictured)
Bachata Nights w/ Ritmo Flow @ The Victoria Restaurant September 27, 2025
Ritmo Flow has hosted Salsa pop-ups all summer so this event is a little switch up but I love dancing bachata so I'm not complaining!
Westcott Street Cultural Fair September 28, 2025
Local vendors, live music, good food, and all the creative energy I love.
So yeah, life’s changing, but I’m learning to move with it instead of fighting it. And honestly? I’m feeling really good about what’s ahead!
As always, If you're going to any of these events, stop and say hi! 👋🏽
