Recently, I was able to take my children to spend the evening at the Empower FCU Amphitheater for week one of their Moonlight Movie Series. Although, this outing may have started as my excuse to watch Wicked again, we all ended up having a great time! I love finding kid-friendly events for my littles to experience, especially outdoors. Here I'll talk about my takeaways from the event and how you can be prepared for week two!

Kid‑Friendly Highlights:
Totally relaxed, family atmosphere
Perfect for young kids to run around, meet new friends, or just unwind on a blanket, lawn chair, or simply on the grass.
The event is free to attend, with free parking so it was definitely an easy, no‑pressure outing (my favorite)
I arrived under the impression that there would be one big movie screen but instead there were multiple smaller screens spread across the Amp. This was really great because even those far back got a decent view.
Helpful Tips:
Bring the wagon. If you have the option to bring a wagon over a stroller, that would be best. The walk from the parking lot to the amphitheater is long, and wagons are easier for lugging toys, snacks, and even tired kids. I personally used my stroller, which worked fine, but I also made sure to pack light!
Pack your own snacks and toys. There are food trucks on site, but bringing your own snacks helps to avoid the long lines and keep the free event, well... free. I brought some small blocks for my daughter to play with during the movie and they were a great way for her to interact with other children her age.
Don’t forget sunscreen. The lawn has zero shade. Perfect for enjoying the sun, but best to be safe. My kids were dressed in pretty light clothing and hats!
Overall this was a simple, fun way to spend an evening outside with kids. They get fresh air, playtime, social time, and you don’t have to spend a dime!
